Welburn Annual Show

The Welburn Annual Show is planned to take place on Saturday 15 August.  At the time of posting we are hoping that this will still go ahead.  The Show schedule, including the list of classes, instructions and entry form, can be downloaded using the link in the Events and Activities page (reposted 14 April 2020).

Corona virus

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Welburn village hall Trustees have felt it necessary to close the public toilet at the hall.

We will be following the Government advice carefully regarding bookings and look forward to welcoming everyone back once it is safe to do so. Please contact group organisers for specific details and information regarding when this may be.  For security reasons we have changed the keysafe code and will provide the new code to regular groups as and when they commence bookings again.

In the meantime, we hope everyone stays well and does not suffer too much from the enforced isolation'

Forthcoming Events

Because of the virus outbreak, events in April and May have been cancelled.  Future events will be announced when Government guidance permits

Village Hall Community Survey 2019

The Welburn Village Hall Committee carryied out a survey of views last summer to find out how members of the local community feel about this important village asset.  Many thanks to the large number of people who responded.  The results have now been analysed and the village hall committee is considering what actions to take in the light of these results.

The issue receiving the most attention was the availability of car parking.  The committee is looking into the feasibility of increasing the number of parking spaces.  More information to follow in due course.

Another issue commonly mentioned was the darkness of the road leading down from the village hall to the Main Street at night. If you feel that more lighting is needed in this area please contact the Parish Council as this comes under their jurisdiction.

Some respondents were interested in attending exercise classes in the evening.  In response to these requests, a new early evening yoga class is planned to start in January  2020 - see the Events page under regular events for more information.

Other issues raised in the survey are also being considered.

 Anyone for (table) tennis?

We are looking into the possibility of having a table tennis club at the village hall and want to see how much interest there might be. Rob Stansfield has kindly agreed to be a co-ordinator. If you are interested, please contact Rob at St Anne's Cottage, 618564

Welcome to the Welburn Village Hall Website.

Our village hall is host to a wide range of Welburn and Crambeck community groups and events.

This superb venue is also the ideal place to hold your next social or business event and ensure that it’s a great success whether you live in our Parish or elsewhere.

It is conveniently located in the pretty village of Welburn which is just a mile off the A64 between York and Malton and close to Castle Howard in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Newly built with a timber frame construction in 2007, this modern building incorporates many renewable technologies.

The Main Hall has a total capacity of 110 people for private functions such as wedding receptions or family parties. The smaller Dot Smith Room can comfortably seat up to 20 people theatre style or 14 around the meeting table. There is also a modern, well equipped kitchen. All areas have been designed with disabled access in mind.

The hall is located in Church Lane, Welburn, North Yorkshire, YO60 7EG. We are a registered charity (no. 1181994) and the hall is run by volunteers from Welburn and Crambeck who manage the facility for the use of residents, local communities and friends of Welburn.

Your village hall needs you

Please become involved in the running of the village hall.  New trustees are wanted and welcomed bringing new skills and energy to the present team. We are also planning to set up sub committees for specialist areas which would not require the full commitment of being a charity trustee. If you would like more information on becoming a charity trustee please contact Liz Laming 01653 618527, or feel that you would like to contribute to the running of the Village Hall by coming on to one of our committees please let Yvonne Myers know 01653 618610.
