If you value using a location with strong green credentials, then this could be the perfect venue for you.
Newly built with a timber frame construction in 2007, it incorporates many renewable technologies to reduce running costs and minimise the carbon footprint of the building and its impact on the environment. The hall’s architect was commended for her work on the hall in the Best Sustainable Project category in the 2009 North & East Yorkshire LABC Building Excellence Awards.
It has a recycled aluminium roof which is highly insulated with recycled newsprint insulation. There are triple-glazed windows and sun pipes to ensure good natural lighting and ventilation. A low noise air source heat pump, and sustainably sourced timber cladding were all included in the construction of the building. Internal finishes are also made from recycled materials.
